How to cancel discovery+

The fastest way

Sign in at discoveryplus.com, choose your profile, then Subscription, then Cancel; you can keep streaming until your billing period ends. If Cancel isn’t there, an app store or your TV package bills you, so cancel there instead.

Cancel on discoveryplus.com

  1. Sign in at discoveryplus.com.
  2. Choose your profile (or the Settings icon on TVs), then Subscription.
  3. In the Subscription section, choose Cancel.
  4. Look for the email confirming the cancellation.

If Cancel isn’t available, discovery+ says your subscription is billed through an app store or with your TV package. The top of the Subscription screen shows who bills you.

If Amazon bills you

  1. For Prime Video Channels, go to Manage Your Prime Video Channels and sign in to your Amazon account.
  2. Find discovery+ in the Your Channels section.
  3. Choose the Cancel Channel option and confirm.
  4. For Amazon Appstore billing, sign in at amazon.com/appstoresubscriptions, find discovery+ under Your Subscriptions and turn off auto-renewal.

For Amazon Appstore billing, discovery+ says Amazon emails you to confirm the cancellation and you can keep streaming until the end of your billing period.

If Roku bills you

  1. Sign in to your Roku account at my.roku.com/subscriptions.
  2. Find discovery+ in your Active Subscriptions.
  3. Choose Manage subscription.
  4. Turn off auto-renew and then confirm.

If a TV or phone provider bills you

  1. Samsung: go to samsungcheckout.com, sign in, open Purchase History and choose Subscriptions, then choose Unsubscribe next to discovery+.
  2. Xfinity: sign in at discoveryplus.com, choose your profile, then Account, then Cancel Subscription.
  3. DIRECTV or DIRECTV STREAM: remove discovery+ as a premium add-on in your DIRECTV account.
  4. Verizon: cancel through the My Verizon website or app.
  5. DISH, Sling or Vizio: manage discovery+ through your account with them.

discovery+ says that with DIRECTV your access ends immediately, and you may get a prorated credit on your next DIRECTV bill.

Cancel on iPhone or iPad (billed by Apple)

If you subscribed to discovery+ through the App Store, Apple bills you, so you cancel in Settings → your name → Subscriptions.

  1. Open the Settings app and tap your name.
  2. Tap Subscriptions.
  3. Tap the subscription you want to cancel.
  4. Tap Cancel Subscription — you may need to scroll down. If there's no cancel button, or you see red expiration text, it's already cancelled.

discovery+ says Apple-billed subscriptions are cancelled in your Apple subscriptions. If you can’t find discovery+ there, check that you’re signed in with the Apple ID you subscribed with.

Cancel on Android (billed by Google Play)

If you subscribed to discovery+ through Google Play, cancel it in Google Play.

  1. On your Android device, open your subscriptions in Google Play.
  2. Select the subscription you want to cancel.
  3. Tap Cancel subscription.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

discovery+ says to cancel in the Play Store on the Android phone or tablet where you started your subscription.

Good to know before you cancel

  • Deleting the discovery+ app does not cancel your subscription.
  • Cancel at least a day before your next billing date to avoid another charge. The discovery+ Terms of Use say at least 24 hours before it renews.
  • A free trial turns into a paid subscription unless you cancel before the trial ends. The Terms say you won’t be notified that the trial is about to end unless the law requires it.
  • If DIRECTV bills you, discovery+ says your access ends immediately when you cancel, rather than at the end of the billing period.

discovery+ cancellation FAQ

Will I get a refund?

Usually not. The discovery+ Terms of Use say subscription fees are non-refundable unless the law requires otherwise, with no refunds, credit or prorated billing for cancelled subscriptions. They add that a subscription provider may offer a refund or credit as a discretionary accommodation.

When does my access end?

At the end of your billing period. discovery+ says that after you cancel you can keep streaming until your subscription expires. The one exception it lists is DIRECTV, where access ends immediately.

How do I find out who bills me?

discovery+ suggests searching your email for a discovery+ subscription email. You can also sign in at discoveryplus.com, choose your profile, then Subscription, and look at the top of the screen to see who your subscription is billed through.

Can I come back later?

Yes. discovery+ says you can resubscribe anytime on discoveryplus.com or in the discovery+ app.
