How to cancel Apple TV

Go to tv.apple.com, sign in, choose the account icon, then Settings, and next to Subscriptions choose Manage, then Cancel Subscription. On iPhone or iPad you can also cancel in Settings under your name, then Subscriptions.

Cancel on the web

  1. Go to tv.apple.com.
  2. Choose Sign In at the top of the page. If you don’t see Sign In, skip this step.
  3. Choose the account icon at the top of the page, then choose Settings.
  4. Scroll to Subscriptions and choose Manage.
  5. Choose Cancel Subscription.

If you can’t cancel at tv.apple.com, Apple says to cancel in Settings on your device instead.

Cancel on iPhone or iPad

  1. In Settings, tap your name.
  2. Tap Subscriptions, then tap Apple TV.
  3. Tap Cancel Subscription. You might need to scroll down to find it.

If there’s no Cancel button, or you see an expiration message in red text, the subscription is already canceled.

Cancel on a Mac

  1. In the App Store, click your name at the bottom of the sidebar. Or click Sign In and sign in to your Apple Account.
  2. On the page that appears, click your name. You might be asked to sign in to your Apple Account.
  3. Click Subscriptions, then click Apple TV.
  4. Click Cancel Subscription.

If Amazon bills you

  1. Sign in to the Amazon account that you use to pay for Apple TV.
  2. Cancel the subscription through Amazon’s account pages.

Apple says Amazon-billed Apple TV can be cancelled only through Amazon. Apple’s help doesn’t list the Amazon steps.

Cancel on Android (billed by Google Play)

If you subscribed to Apple TV through Google Play, cancel it in Google Play.

  1. On your Android device, open your subscriptions in Google Play.
  2. Select the subscription you want to cancel.
  3. Tap Cancel subscription.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Apple says that if you pay for Apple TV through Google Play, you can cancel only in the Apple TV app on your Android device or at play.google.com.

Good to know before you cancel

  • If you’re on a free trial and don’t want it to renew, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Apple’s terms say you can’t reactivate a free trial after you cancel it early.
  • You can’t cancel a family member’s subscription. If a family member’s Apple Account is on the receipt, they have to cancel it.
  • Where you cancel depends on who bills you: Apple, Google Play, Amazon, or a carrier. Apple says Google Play and Amazon subscriptions can be cancelled only through those companies.
  • Apple TV is also part of Apple One, and Apple says access might be included with your iCloud+ subscription. If you don’t see a separate Apple TV subscription, check those plans.
  • If you get Apple TV through a wireless carrier or another provider, Apple says to contact that company to cancel.

Is Apple TV+ the same as Apple TV?

Yes. Apple’s support page says Apple TV+ is now Apple TV, so the steps here apply to your Apple TV+ subscription.

Will I get a refund?

Cancelling stops future renewals. Apple says some purchases from its services might be eligible for a refund, which you request at reportaproblem.apple.com, and its Media Services terms say all transactions are final. Apple says to wait 24 to 48 hours for an update on a request.

When does my access end?

Apple’s cancel articles don’t give a specific end date for Apple TV. After you cancel, Apple shows an expiration message in red text on the subscription, so check it in your Subscriptions list. For anything else, ask Apple Support.

I pay through Google Play or Amazon. Where do I cancel?

With the company that bills you. Apple says Google Play subscriptions can be cancelled only in the Apple TV app on your Android device or at play.google.com, and Amazon subscriptions only through Amazon.
