Cancel on iPhone or iPad

  1. Open the Settings app, then tap your name.
  2. Tap Subscriptions, then tap iCloud+ under Active.
  3. Tap Cancel Subscription. You’ll see a message saying you may not have enough iCloud storage to sync all your data.

These steps are for iOS and iPadOS 18.4 and later. On iOS or iPadOS 18 to 18.3, open Settings, tap your name, tap iCloud, tap Manage Plan under iCloud+ Features, then tap Downgrade Options and select a new plan.

Cancel on a Mac

  1. Choose Apple menu, then click System Settings.
  2. Click Apple Account, then click iCloud.
  3. Click Manage Plan under iCloud+ Features.
  4. Click Cancel Subscription.

These steps are for macOS Tahoe 26 or later. On macOS Sonoma to Sequoia, click Downgrade Options after Manage Plan, then choose the free 5GB plan to cancel.

Cancel on a Windows PC

  1. Open iCloud for Windows and click Manage.
  2. Click Change Storage Plan, then click Downgrade Options.
  3. Enter your Apple Account password, then click Manage.
  4. Choose the free 5GB plan to cancel your iCloud+ plan, then click Done.

Cancel without an Apple device

  1. Sign in to reportaproblem.apple.com with the email address or phone number and password for your Apple Account.
  2. Tap or click I’d like to, then choose Request a refund.
  3. Choose the reason why you want a refund or to cancel, then choose Next.
  4. Choose the most recent charge for your iCloud+ subscription, or the iCloud subscription at the top, then choose Submit.

Apple says refund decisions can take 24 to 48 hours.

Good to know before you cancel

  • Cancelling or downgrading takes effect after your current subscription billing period ends.
  • Before you cancel, download or remove content that goes over your new storage amount. If your iCloud storage is over the new plan’s limit, iCloud won’t sync or update your information and iCloud backups won’t complete until you free up space or add storage.
  • On the free plan you lose iCloud+ features like Hide My Email, Private Relay, Apple Invites and HomeKit Secure Video support.
  • If you pay for both Apple One and an iCloud+ plan, you can cancel the separate iCloud+ plan and use the iCloud+ plan included in Apple One.

iCloud+ cancellation FAQ

Will I get a refund?

Apple says partial refunds are available where required by law. If you recently changed your iCloud+ plan, Apple says to contact it within 14 days for a refund.

When does my access end?

Apple says the change takes effect after your current subscription billing period ends, so you keep your plan until then.

Can I pay for less storage instead of cancelling?

Yes. Apple says to follow the same steps to your iCloud+ plan, but tap See All Plans instead of Cancel Subscription, then select a new plan and follow the onscreen instructions.

What if I no longer have my Apple device?

Apple has an online option. Sign in at reportaproblem.apple.com, choose I’d like to, then Request a refund, and pick your iCloud+ charge. The steps are listed above.
