How to cancel Google One

The fastest way

On a computer, go to one.google.com, select Settings, then Cancel membership, and confirm. Google says your storage and benefits last until the end of the billing cycle.

Cancel on the web

  1. On your computer, go to one.google.com and sign in if asked.
  2. Select Settings, then Cancel membership.
  3. To confirm, select Cancel membership again.
  4. Look for a confirmation that your subscription is cancelled.

Google says you can cancel your Google One membership plan at any time.

Cancel in the Google One app on Android

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google One app.
  2. At the top, tap Menu, then Settings, then Cancel membership.
  3. To confirm, tap Cancel membership.
  4. Look for a confirmation that your subscription is cancelled.

Cancel in the Google One app on iPhone or iPad

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google One app.
  2. On the left, tap Menu, then Membership plans, then Manage plan.
  3. Tap Cancel membership. This opens the subscription management page for your plan.
  4. Tap Cancel Subscription. You might need to scroll to find it.

If there’s no Cancel Subscription button, or you see an expiration message in red, the subscription is already canceled.

If a phone carrier or another company bills you

  1. Go to your service provider’s website or app. This is the company that sold you the Google One plan, such as a mobile carrier.
  2. Choose the option to cancel the Google One plan.

Google says some providers may have more or fewer options to change your plan.

Cancel on iPhone or iPad (billed by Apple)

If you subscribed to Google One through the App Store, Apple bills you, so you cancel in Settings → your name → Subscriptions.

  1. Open the Settings app and tap your name.
  2. Tap Subscriptions.
  3. Tap the subscription you want to cancel.
  4. Tap Cancel Subscription — you may need to scroll down. If there's no cancel button, or you see red expiration text, it's already cancelled.

If you signed up for Google One through the App Store, you cancel on an Apple device, and Google says to request refunds from Apple. If you later switch to Android, you can’t change the membership or payment method in the Google One app.

Cancel on Android (billed by Google Play)

If you subscribed to Google One through Google Play, cancel it in Google Play.

  1. On your Android device, open your subscriptions in Google Play.
  2. Select the subscription you want to cancel.
  3. Tap Cancel subscription.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Google says Play Store purchases follow Google Play’s refund policies.

Good to know before you cancel

  • Your storage and benefits don’t end right away. Google says you have until the end of the billing cycle to use them. If a Metro by T-Mobile sponsorship pays for your membership (U.S. only), it ends as soon as you cancel.
  • After that, you and your family members drop to the free storage that comes with each Google Account, up to 15 GB per person, and lose the extra benefits.
  • If you’re using more than the free storage, Gmail can’t send or receive messages, Google Drive can’t sync or upload new files, and Google Photos can’t back up photos or videos until you clear space or buy more storage.
  • Google says that if you stay over your storage limit for 2 years or longer, all of your content may be deleted from your Google Account.
  • Premium subscriptions that come with your plan, like Google Home Premium, Google Health Premium and YouTube Premium, also stop.

Will I get a refund?

Usually not. Google says that in most countries or regions, Google storage plan purchases are non-refundable, and the storage you bought is yours for the length of the subscription even if you cancel. For Play Store purchases, Google points you to the Google Play refund policies. For App Store purchases, request a refund from Apple.

When does my access end?

Google says your Google One storage and benefits won’t go away immediately. You have until the end of the billing cycle to use them, and then you lose the benefits.

Who is billing me: Google, Apple, or a carrier?

Check where you signed up. A plan bought through the App Store is cancelled through Apple, which the Google One app on iPhone and iPad opens for you. A plan sold by a carrier or another partner is changed or cancelled through that provider’s website or app.

Can I pay less instead of cancelling?

Google says that if you don’t want to cancel your membership, you can decrease storage instead. Its help center has a separate article on changing your plan.
