Heads up: Equinox’s FAQ lists the ways to cancel but doesn’t describe the screens after you log in or give a mailing address, and it says notice periods and cancellation rules vary by state and by your Membership Agreement. Check your agreement for the rules that apply to you.

Cancel in your online account

  1. Log in to your account on equinox.com.
  2. Look for the option to cancel your membership.

Equinox’s FAQ lists this as one way to cancel but doesn’t describe the screens after you log in.

Cancel by email

  1. Email Cancellations@Equinox.com.
  2. Say you want to cancel your membership.

Cancel by phone

  1. Call Equinox Concierge.
  2. Ask to cancel your membership.

Equinox’s FAQ says to visit equinox.com for the current Concierge phone number. Its Contact Us page lists 866-332-6549 under Call Us, Monday through Friday, 8am to 8pm EST, but doesn’t say whether that is the Concierge line.

Cancel at your club

  1. Go to your Equinox club.
  2. Ask a club manager to cancel your membership.

Cancel by mail

  1. Find the mail cancellation instructions in your Membership Agreement.
  2. Send your cancellation as those instructions describe.

Equinox’s FAQ doesn’t give a mailing address for membership cancellations. To get a copy of your Membership Agreement, contact Concierge@equinox.com.

Good to know before you cancel

  • Notice periods vary by state, and some states offer other cancellation methods. Your Membership Agreement has the requirements for your membership.
  • In certain states, if you cancel soon after an increase in Membership Dues, you may have additional rights.
  • Personal training and Pilates sessions expire when your membership ends, or six months after purchase if that comes first. Unused sessions aren’t refunded except in limited circumstances set out in your Membership Agreement.
  • Overnight locker and laundry services end immediately when your Membership Agreement is cancelled or terminated.
  • Pilates, Personal Training and Spa subscription programs have their own Subscription Agreement and cancellation terms, so review that agreement too.

Will I get a refund?

Equinox’s FAQ doesn’t state a refund policy for membership dues and points you to your Membership Agreement. Its Member Policies say unused personal training or Pilates sessions aren’t refunded when your membership is cancelled, except in limited circumstances set out in your Membership Agreement.

How much notice do I need to give?

Equinox says notice periods vary by state. Review your Membership Agreement for the requirements that apply to your membership.

Can I freeze my membership instead?

Equinox recommends a freeze instead of cancelling if you’re going on an extended vacation or can’t use the club for a brief period. To ask, contact Concierge@equinox.com. Its Member Policies describe freezes for medical reasons or another legally required reason, and say to contact the front desk or Concierge about non-medical freezes. They say you aren’t eligible with an overdue balance or if your membership isn’t in good standing, if you have a short-term membership, or if you joined through a payroll-deducted or subsidized corporate program.

Can I come back after cancelling?

Equinox says you can reactivate your membership at your local club or by emailing Concierge@Equinox.com.
