How to cancel 24 Hour Fitness

Heads up: 24 Hour Fitness’s FAQ lists the ways to cancel but doesn’t show the screens inside My24, and your fees, refund and end date depend on your membership type and agreement. Check the first pages of your membership agreement or ask the club.

Cancel online in My24

  1. Go to the Cancel Membership Options page at 24hourfitness.com/members/cancel.
  2. Select No thanks to decline the offer shown and continue to cancel.
  3. Sign in to My24 if asked, then follow the cancellation steps.

24 Hour Fitness’s FAQ also says to sign in to My24 and select My Account in the upper-right corner to see the full menu of options. Neither page describes the screens after you sign in. The offer on the cancel page is 30% off your next 3 months’ dues, for Monthly Payment memberships only.

Cancel by phone

  1. Call 24 Hour Fitness at 866-308-8179.
  2. Ask to cancel your membership.

If your membership is still in its commitment period, 24 Hour Fitness asks you to call this number to discuss your cancellation options.

Contact your local club

  1. Contact your local 24 Hour Fitness club.
  2. Ask to cancel your membership.

The FAQ only says to contact your local club. It doesn’t say whether a club accepts cancellations by phone or only in person, so ask the club. For limited-term or prepaid memberships, the cancel page says to come see a team member in club or contact 24 Hour Fitness.

Cancel by email request

  1. Open Contact Us on 24hourfitness.com.
  2. Send an email with your cancellation request.

Cancel by mail

  1. Write your cancellation request.
  2. Mail it to: Attn: Cancel, 24 Hour Fitness, P.O. Box 787, Carlsbad, CA 92018.

If you bought your membership at Costco

  1. Return to Costco with your receipt of purchase.
  2. Discuss your cancellation with Costco.

This is 24 Hour Fitness’s instruction for memberships purchased through Costco.

Good to know before you cancel

  • Cooling-off period: if you notify 24 Hour Fitness within 3 days of your initial purchase (5 days in California and Hawaii), you receive a full refund.
  • Commitment memberships: during the Commitment Period you can’t cancel except as Section 6 of your membership agreement allows, which may include a cancellation fee. The Commitment Period is on the first page of your agreement.
  • Yearly Auto-Renewal, Limited-Term and Prepaid memberships end at the end of your current prepaid term, with no refund of prepaid dues or fees.
  • Add-On memberships keep running and accruing dues unless you cancel them separately. Cancelling the primary membership doesn’t end them.
  • 24 Hour Fitness says to review your specific membership agreement for a complete explanation of your cancellation rights.

Will I get a refund?

24 Hour Fitness promises a full refund if you notify it within 3 days of your initial purchase (5 days in California and Hawaii). For yearly auto-renewal, limited-term and prepaid memberships, it says you’re not entitled to a refund of prepaid dues or fees, though your agreement may include exceptions.

When does my membership end?

For monthly payment memberships, 24 Hour Fitness says future monthly payments stop when you request to cancel, and your last month’s prepaid dues, if applicable, are applied. Yearly, limited-term and prepaid memberships end at the end of the current prepaid term.

Can I freeze my membership instead?

Sometimes. 24 Hour Fitness only freezes memberships in good standing, with at least ten days’ notice. Medical disability, an extended volunteer assignment or a temporary employment transfer can qualify for 3 to 6 months, and active-duty military transfers have no set limit. Other reasons can get an extended freeze of up to 12 months. No dues are collected during an approved freeze, but you still pay the Annual Fee.

I bought my membership at Costco. How do I cancel?

24 Hour Fitness says to return to Costco with your receipt of purchase to discuss your cancellation.
