How to cancel Freedom Mobile
The fastest way
In Canada, Freedom Mobile says to contact it through your preferred channel and it will cancel your service as requested. Its Terms of Service say service stops on the day Freedom receives your instructions, and an unpaid MyTab balance becomes due.

Cancel mobile service
- Go to freedommobile.ca/en-CA/contact-us and choose a channel: live messaging, Apple Messages, WhatsApp or RCS message, or call 611 from your Freedom phone.
- From elsewhere, call 1-877-946-3184 within North America or +1-647-700-2435 outside North America. Freedom lists its hours as Monday to Sunday, 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. ET.
- Say you want to cancel your service. Freedom says it will help you find a solution, or cancel your service as requested.
- Pay any MyTab balance still owing. Freedom says it is charged to your account once your service is cancelled.
Freedom’s cancellation page says to contact it through your preferred channel, while its Terms of Service say you terminate service by contacting its call centre.
Cancel Freedom Home Internet
- Contact Freedom to begin the cancellation process.
- After an agent processes your cancellation, return your equipment within 30 days. Freedom emails you a pre-paid return shipping label.
- Package the hardware, including any originally included components, in a box and attach the label.
- Drop the box off at the nearest outlet.
Freedom says equipment returns can’t be processed in-store, and fees for unreturned equipment vary by equipment. Separately, Freedom says its Home Internet and TV services have no contracts or term commitments and you can cancel at any time without penalty.
Good to know before you cancel
- If you cancel before your MyTab is paid off, Freedom says you’re cancelling your service only and the device is yours to keep, but your outstanding MyTab balance is charged to your account as a lump sum. Any prepayment from activation is applied towards what you owe.
- Freedom’s Terms of Service say you pay all charges up to the date it stops service, including an early cancellation fee equal to any unpaid MyTab balance. Cancelling a primary line also cancels its secondary line, such as a smartwatch data plan, with an immediate charge for that device’s balance. The CRTC’s Wireless Code says that when a subsidized device is part of the contract, the early cancellation fee must not exceed the value of the device subsidy.
- If you cancel without porting your number out, Freedom says you can’t reactivate your old number and would need a new SIM, a new activation and a new number. If you ported out, you can reactivate with the old number at a Freedom retail location with a new SIM and rate plan, then port the number back.
- Freedom’s Vacation Pass pauses service for $15.00 a month (plus tax) for up to 12 months a year. You must be a postpaid customer without an active MyTab and in good standing, and you contact Customer Care to add it.

Freedom Mobile cancellation FAQ
Can I cancel Freedom Mobile online or without calling?
Freedom’s cancellation page says to contact it through your preferred channel, and its contact page lists live messaging, Apple Messages, WhatsApp and RCS messaging alongside a phone line. Its Terms of Service, though, say you terminate service by contacting its call centre, so you may be asked to phone.
When does the cancellation take effect?
Freedom’s Terms of Service say it stops providing service on the day it receives your instructions to terminate. If you transfer your number to another provider, Freedom treats that as your decision to terminate and stops service once the transfer is complete. The CRTC’s Wireless Code likewise says cancellation takes effect on the day the provider receives notice.
Will I get a refund?
Freedom’s Terms of Service say a postpaid credit balance under $10 isn’t refunded automatically when service ends. A balance of $10 or more is refunded within 30 days to a credit card used for a recent payment, or by cheque to your last known address.
Is there a trial period if I just signed up?
Freedom’s Terms of Service give 15 days: if you cancel your services within 15 days, no early cancellation fee is charged, though you still pay pay-per-use charges such as long distance minutes and roaming. To return a product for a refund or exchange you must not have used more than 50% of the monthly data in your plan (unlimited plans excepted), and the product must be in like-new condition with its packaging, accessories and receipt.
