How to cancel Amazon Prime

The fastest way

Open Cancel Your Prime Membership in your Amazon account and follow the prompts. Amazon says paid members who haven’t used their Prime benefits are eligible for a full refund of the current membership period.

Cancel on the web

Go to amazon.com/mm/pipeline/cancellation (Cancel Your Prime Membership) and sign in to your Amazon account if asked.
Follow the prompts to end your membership.
To pause instead of canceling, use the Membership Management section on Prime Central.

Amazon’s help article doesn’t describe each screen, so go by what the prompts show you. For more options, it points to your Prime Membership page.

If you need help canceling

Go to the Amazon Customer Service homepage.
Under Can’t find what you’re looking for?, select Something else.
Then select I need help with something else.

If another company provides your Prime

If your Prime membership comes with another company’s service, contact that company to cancel it.
If you signed up through a third party, you may also need to ask that company about any refund under its own policies.

Amazon’s help says this applies when your membership is associated with another company’s service.

Go to Your Subscribe & Save Items (amazon.com/gp/subscribe-and-save/manager/viewsubscriptions) and sign in if asked.
Select the Subscriptions tab.
Select the product image, or select Edit, to view the subscription details.
Select Cancel subscription.
Optional: select a cancellation reason.
Select Cancel my subscription.

For the cancellation to take effect from your upcoming delivery, Amazon says to do this before the Last day to update this order date shown for the subscription on the Subscribe & Save page. Once an order has entered the shipping process, it can no longer be canceled.

Cancel a Prime Video Channels (add-on) subscription

Go to Manage Your Subscriptions (amazon.com/myac) and select Subscriptions from the top menu.
Find the add-on subscription that you want to cancel.
Select Unsubscribe and confirm.

Amazon’s current help calls these Prime Video add-on subscriptions. Unless you accept a self-service refund, which ends it immediately, the end date shows on the confirmation screen and you can reverse the cancellation until then.

Cancel on iPhone or iPad (billed by Apple)

If you subscribed to Amazon Prime through the App Store, Apple bills you, so you cancel in Settings → your name → Subscriptions.

Open the Settings app and tap your name.
Tap Subscriptions.
Tap the subscription you want to cancel.
Tap Cancel Subscription — you may need to scroll down. If there's no cancel button, or you see red expiration text, it's already cancelled.

Amazon’s help for Prime Video add-on subscriptions says that if you pay for one through Apple, you must cancel at least 24 hours before it is due to renew, otherwise you may be charged.

Cancel on Android (billed by Google Play)

If you subscribed to Amazon Prime through Google Play, cancel it in Google Play.

On your Android device, open your subscriptions in Google Play.
Select the subscription you want to cancel.
Tap Cancel subscription.
Follow the on-screen instructions.

Amazon’s help says that if you signed up for Prime through Google Play on Android, you cancel through Google’s subscription settings.

Good to know before you cancel

Subscriptions you added on Prime Video, like Paramount+, continue after your Prime membership ends. Check Memberships and Subscriptions to cancel those separately.
Cancel before your renewal date to avoid the next charge.
A full refund of the current period depends on not having used Prime benefits. Amazon may also withhold the value of benefits you used.
If you want a break instead, Amazon lets eligible memberships pause for one month or up to one year. Free trials, discounted offers, Prime Student and memberships joined through a third party aren’t eligible.
Subscribe & Save is canceled on its own, in Your Subscribe & Save Items. Do it before the Last day to update this order date to stop the next delivery: once an order has entered shipping it can’t be canceled, and Amazon’s terms say each charge is submitted on the date the item ships.

Amazon Prime cancellation FAQ

Will I get a refund?

Maybe. Amazon says paid members who haven’t used their benefits are eligible for a full refund of the current membership period, processed in three to five business days. Its Prime terms add that if you cancel within 3 business days of signing up, or of a free trial turning into a paid membership, you get a full refund, though Amazon may deduct the value of any benefits you used. At other times it refunds the full fee only if you haven’t made eligible purchases or used Prime benefits since your latest charge.

When does my Prime access end?

Amazon’s cancellation help doesn’t say when your benefits stop. Its terms say you can cancel any time before your renewal date to avoid the next charge. Your Prime Membership page is the place to check your membership status.

Can I pause Prime instead of canceling?

Sometimes. Amazon lets eligible memberships pause for one month (monthly plans only, then it resumes automatically) or for up to one year (monthly or annual plans, resume it yourself). Billing and Prime benefits stop while paused, and a pause starts only after the current billing cycle. You can resume at the then-current rate.

Does canceling Prime cancel my Prime Video channel subscriptions?

No. Amazon says subscriptions on Prime Video, like Paramount+, continue once your Prime membership ends. Manage them under Memberships and Subscriptions. In Memberships and Subscriptions, Amazon’s help says to find the subscription, select Manage Subscription, then Cancel Subscription under Advanced Controls; the Prime Video add-on steps above work too.

How do I cancel a Subscribe & Save subscription?

Go to Your Subscribe & Save Items, select the Subscriptions tab, open the subscription, then select Cancel subscription and Cancel my subscription. Amazon’s terms say you can cancel at any time, or skip your next delivery, before it ships. If you cancel and later reactivate, the discount may not be the same as before.

How do I cancel a Prime Video Channels subscription, and when does it end?

Go to Manage Your Subscriptions, select Subscriptions, find the add-on and select Unsubscribe and confirm. Amazon says the end date shows on the confirmation screen, you can reverse the cancellation until then, and after it you won’t be charged or have access. If you accept a self-service refund when one is offered, the cancellation takes effect immediately; if you want to end it at once without a refund offer, contact Amazon customer service.

Can I get a refund on Subscribe & Save?

Amazon’s Subscribe & Save terms say returns and refunds of subscription shipments are subject to the Amazon.com Returns and Refunds policy. If an order has already entered shipping you can’t cancel it, and Amazon’s cancel article says to request a return or stoppage of shipment or other options depending on the situation.
